The project update bulletin provides the latest progress on the construction of Gloucestershire’s Energy from Waste facility. The piling rigs arrived on site earlier in November and the piling process (creating concrete support structures in the ground to support the buildings and plant) is now underway.

Much of the site preparation work has now been completed with the first major elements of the construction plant arriving on site this week to commence the foundation works.

Major construction work at Gloucestershire’s new Energy from Waste facility is now underway.  Piling equipment has arrived on site to install piled foundations to support the major buildings, process equipment and waste bunker. Other site preparation work continues, with construction of the site access road being completed in the next couple of weeks and the temporary construction compound area by the end of the year.   

This update is being issued to keep you informed of progress on the Energy-from-Waste facility under development at Javelin Park. The first elements of site preparation works have been completed.

The company is under contract and working with Gloucestershire County Council to build and operate the Energy from Waste facility. The facility will treat 190,000 tonnes of residual waste and generate 14.5 MW electricity for export.

Welcome to the first project update bulletin for the Gloucestershire EfW Facility.  The bulletin will be issued by email directly to those who have requested to be kept informed and to members of the Community Liaison Group.  Each one will be made publicly available on UBB’s Gloucestershire project website.

In January 2015, Urbaser Balfour Beatty (UBB) secured planning permission to construct the Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facility at Javelin Park in Gloucestershire. Once operational, the Javelin Park facility will process up to 190,000 tonnes of residual household waste per year from Gloucestershire and generate 116,000 megawatt hours of electricity annually - enough to power approximately 26,000 homes - significantly increasing the county’s renewable energy production.
