Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Community Fund

The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Community Fund (the Community Fund) is made available annually, providing financial grants to support projects that have environmental, social, and/ or community benefits to the constituted community groups and parish organisations from Hunts Grove, Hardwicke, Quedgeley, Brookthorpe-with-Whaddon, Haresfield, Harescombe, Standish, Moreton Valence, and Whitminster.  

Application Information 

Applications for the 2024 Community Fund are now closed. 2025’s fund will reopen in the summer.

The types of projects that may be supported by the Community Fund include, but are not limited to: 

Minimising waste. 

Limiting pollution. 

Minimising use of resources. 

Enhancing biodiversity. 

Enhancing places. 

Reducing crime and fear of crime. 

Strengthening local communities. 

Creating opportunities for culture, leisure, and recreation. 

Promoting health and wellbeing, including mental health. 

Supporting and promoting activities for younger people. 

Supporting and promoting activities for older people. 

About the Community Fund

Responsibility for the evaluation of applications and the allocation of the Community Fund sits with committee representatives from the Community Liaison Group (CLG). The CLG, composed of local Parish Councils, District and County Council members, and residents, meets regularly to review progress at the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility and discuss issues of interest. FCC Environment, the contracted operator of the Facility, funds the initiative whilst undertaking minor administrative duties for the application process.  £25,000 was originally allocated for projects at the commencement of operations at the Facility in 2019, however the total value of the Community Fund will increase each year throughout the life of the project by the Retail Price Index.
