Kitten rescue mission at Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility

An unusual feline discovery at the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility sparked a rescue mission for operational staff.

Team members at the Facility discovered a small tortoiseshell kitten in the Tipping Hall during normal operations.

The kitten was encouraged out of its hiding space with some kitten noises played over the tannoy system and the construction of a safe path.. She was then coaxed into reception where she was given some time to acclimatise.

Following a short stay at the vets to ensure she was fit and healthy, a social media campaign was unsuccessful in tracking down any owners. A member of the operational team and his partner took the cat home where she is now permanently settled and known as Callie.

General Manager Rob Hayward, said: “A kitten is not something you expect to find at an Energy from Waste Facility but due to our vigilant processes and procedures we were able to spot and rescue the cat. We’re glad to hear she is doing well in a very comfy home.”
