2024 Design A Mug Competition Open for Entries

The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, operated by FCC Environment on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, is thrilled to announce the Design A Mug Competition 2024, inviting young minds to express their artistic talents while promoting positive waste management practices. This exciting competition offers a fantastic opportunity to win £50 for yourself and an additional £50 donation for your school or community group.
The competition is open to children in Years 1-6, with a special category dedicated to young people aged up to 18 in SEND settings who possess English comprehension skills at Key Stage 1&2 levels. Community groups are also encouraged to participate. The competition is open for entries now and closes on Friday, 15th November 2024, with winners announced on Friday, 29th November 2024.
Entries will be divided into four categories: Years 1&2, Years 3&4, Years 5&6, and young people aged up to 18 in SEND settings who possess English comprehension skills at Key Stage 1&2 levels. One winner will be selected from each category.
The competition is open to schools and community groups throughout the Gloucestershire area. We are looking for designs that effectively promote good waste management practices, such as the 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover).
Each category winner will receive a £50 gift voucher and a £50 donation to their school or community group. Winning designs will be printed onto mugs that will be used at the facility for staff and visitors – they will also be available for the winners. Every participating school or community group will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 donation, with one entry per group.

Send your completed entries to The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, Javelin Park, Bath Road, Haresfield, Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, GL10 3ET, by 5 pm on Friday, 15th November 2024. Designs will be sorted into categories and anonymised, and a team of staff from the facility will select the winning designs. Winners will be contacted via the school or community group that submitted the entry after Friday, 29th November 2024.
