Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility Hosts Papermaking Workshop for Families

On Friday, 1st November at 10am, the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility is excited to offer a free papermaking workshop, open to children aged 7-15 and their accompanying adults. This hands-on session will highlight creative ways to recycle paper at home, turning junk mail, old bills, and scrap paper into fun craft projects.

Ideal for beginners, the workshop runs for approximately two hours, and all participants must be accompanied by an adult. All necessary supplies will be provided by the Facility, including free refreshments.

Melanie de la Torre Zamora, Community Relationship Manager at the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, shared: “We are committed to not only managing waste responsibly but also educating our community about sustainable practices. This workshop is just one of the many activities we have planned to help residents reduce waste and recycle in creative ways.”

With the ability to power around 25,000 homes, the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility diverts over 90% of waste from landfill and generates energy, about 50% of which is classified as renewable.

Our papermaking workshop is now full, our next workshop will be for seed bombs in February 2025.

The papermaking workshop is the latest in a series of sustainability events hosted by the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility team, and local residents are encouraged to keep an eye out on the Facility’s Facebook Group and website, or join the mailing list for the quarterly newsletter, to stay informed.
