Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility Announces Next Open Day
/The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, operated by FCC Environment on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, is pleased to announce that its next open day will be held on Saturday, 19th October 2024. After the overwhelming response to previous events, this open day will provide another opportunity for visitors to gain insight into the energy from waste process and explore the plant up close.
The event will feature three one-hour sessions, starting at 10am, 11:30am, and 1pm. Each session is designed for small groups, such as families, couples, or friends, with a maximum capacity of 15 people per tour. Attendees will be guided through key areas of the facility, including the waste cranes, combustion grate, and the stack, offering a unique view into the workings of the energy recovery process. Booking will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
This open day continues the facility's commitment to educating the public about the importance of sustainable waste management, energy recovery, and the role of reducing landfill use.
Dan Pearson, General Manager, shared: “After the success of our previous events and seeing such strong interest in our tours, we’re excited to welcome more visitors from across the county. It’s essential that we engage with the community and highlight the environmental benefits of energy from waste. We’re hopeful that these events are helping people feel more involved with what we do.”
