Bring more biodiversity to your garden with poppy seed bomb workshop
/Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility is bringing back its popular poppy seed bomb workshop that combines creativity and fun with learning how to increase biodiversity in gardens.
The free and hands-on workshop will be held on Monday 16 February and will demonstrate how combining seeds (from poppies grown at the facility), soil, and clay, can create a mini ecosystem. These seed bombs can be thrown or planted to help wildflowers to establish in the garden encouraging pollinators like bees and butterflies, which are vital for a healthy ecosystem.
The workshop starting at 10am will last approximately 90 minutes and following the success of last year’s workshop, the Facility is expecting spaces to book up quickly. It is suitable for children aged 7-15 accompanied by an adult. The workshop will provide a fun and creative environment to learn more about how we can have a positive impact on enhancing the environment around us.
Attendees are asked to bring an old container to transport seed bombs back home safely to dry.
Melanie De La Torre Zamora, Community Relationship Manager at Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, said: “Our workshops aim to combine learning about sustainability with fun and creativity and are always popular with local people. These seed bombs are a fun way to show how small actions, like planting wildflowers, can have a big impact on the environment.”
Spaces for the workshop are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve your spot, visit our Eventbrite page.
