With a classroom on site available for schools, colleges, community, and interest groups to meet and learn, the team also offers tours of the Facility and a number of workshops throughout the year.
In 2024, the team hosted 29 tours for schools, including SEND children. So far this year, 18 school tours have been led by Community Relationship Manager Melanie de la Torre Zamora.
Each tour showcases the engineering and technology involved with the treatment of household residual waste.
In addition to the incredibly popular tours which book up a year in advance, the Facility offers four workshops throughout the year mainly aimed at children and are focused around educating young people on sustainability and the environment in an engaging and fun way.
