Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility announces seed bomb making workshop

On Thursday 31st August, the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility will host a free poppy seed bomb making workshop aimed at children aged 5-16 and their accompanying adults. All seeds have been collected from poppies grown onsite and the workshop offers a chance for local children to learn how to make their gardens into a paradise for bees and other pollinators.

While children must be accompanied by an adult, the workshop is designed for beginners. The session is expected to run for approximately 90 minutes and free refreshments will be on offer. There is no charge to attend the workshop, although the Facility will be collecting donations for its chosen charity, Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, from people who would like to support it. As the seed bombs will take a while to dry properly, attendees are requested to bring an old ice cream container, biscuit tin or similar to transport them home safely.

Dan Pearson, General Manager at the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, said:

“After the success of our previous workshop, we’re continuing to find new and fun ways to engage and educate residents on how we can all use available resources sustainably. There will be more activities across the coming months, so make sure you keep an eye out for fun opportunities like this.”
