Return of the copper wire creative crafting workshop with Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility

Monday 8 June sees the return of the popular Copper Tree Workshop from Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility.

During the 1.5 hour session, participants will learn the art of this mindful craft hobby by transforming old copper wires into decorative ornamental trees. This workshop aimed at adults is now in its second year and brings creativity and upcycling to a commonly disused and discarded household item.

Supporting the Facility’s sustainable waste management approach of the 4 Rs (reuse, reduce, recycle and recover), this workshop shows how an everyday item can be recycled into something beautiful for the home.

Melanie de la Torre Zamora, Community Relationship Manager, said: “This workshop really embodies the principles of sustainable waste management.

“All our free workshops aim to engage and inspire our local community to get creative to reuse and recycle everyday items into something interesting, useful, or educational. We also hope they have lots of fun along the way.”

The Copper Tree workshop, suitable for adults starts at 10am and all materials will be provided including the electrical wires that will be used to make the trees (these are offcuts from maintenance work carried out on site). Although participants are welcome to bring their own base for their project, which could be a crystal or a pebble and their own unused electrical cable, if they wish.

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure a place, visit  https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/workshops-4804461or call 01452 379 886.
