Spark creativity with free Copper Tree workshop at the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility
/Transforming disused copper electrical wires into decorative ornamental trees will be the focus of the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility’s latest free workshop on Thursday 15 May.
Supporting the Facility’s sustainable waste management approach of the 4 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover), this mindful craft hobby will be taught in a 1.5 hour workshop using reused and donated materials and will be held at the Facility’s Visitor Centre.
The Copper Tree workshop is now available to book and is the latest in a series of workshops that the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility holds free of charge to local residents including children, all aiming to engage the wider community on the importance of sustainable waste management.
Melanie de la Torre Zamora, Community Relationship Manager, said: “This workshop really embodies the principles of sustainable waste management. Alongside engaging and inspiring our local community members, it will show participants how easily and fulfilling it is to turn something that would normally be discarded, into a beautiful new decorative item.”
The Copper Tree workshop, suitable for adults starts at 10am, tea and coffee will be available. All materials will be provided including the electrical wires that will be used to make the trees (these are offcuts from maintenance work carried out on site). Although participants are welcome to bring their own base for their project, which could be a crystal or a pebble and their own unused electrical cable, if they wish.
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure a place, email melanie.delatorrezamora@fccenvironment.co.uk or call 01452 379 886.
