Free Poppy Seed Bomb Workshop Returns for Families

Building on the success of our previous workshops, the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility is thrilled to announce another poppy seed bomb making session on Monday, 17th February 2025 at 10am. This hands-on event is perfect for local children aged 7-15 and their parents or guardians, offering a mix of fun, learning, and creativity.

Seed bombs are an exciting and simple way to bring wildflowers to life while supporting biodiversity. By combining seeds, soil, and clay, attendees will create their very own "mini ecosystems" that can be thrown or planted to help wildflowers flourish. These flowers play an important role in supporting pollinators like bees and butterflies, which are vital for healthy ecosystems. And here’s the best part: the seeds used in this workshop come from poppies grown at the facility, adding a local touch to your creations.

The 90-minute session is free to attend and includes complimentary refreshments. All children must be accompanied by an adult. To make sure your seed bombs make it home safely to dry, please bring along an old ice cream container, biscuit tin, or similar container.

Melanie De La Torre Zamora, Community Relationship Manager at Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, who will be leading the workshop, shared her excitement: “Our earlier workshops were a huge hit! There’s something magical about seeing children get hands-on with nature while learning about sustainability. These seed bombs are a fun way to show how small actions, like planting wildflowers, can have a big impact on the environment. We’re so excited to welcome families back for another session filled with creativity and discovery!”

Spaces for the workshop are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve your spot, email info_gefw@fccenvironment.co.uk or call 01452 379 886.
