Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility Announces Planned Annual Maintenance Outage for 2024
/The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility has announced the commencement of its next planned annual maintenance outage. This maintenance period will begin on Tuesday, 3rd September, and is scheduled to last for approximately two weeks. During this time, the facility’s mechanical processes will be temporarily shut down, halting regular day-to-day operations, including public tours.
This annual maintenance activity is essential for carrying out inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of the equipment. These measures ensure that operations continue to run efficiently and in full compliance with environmental standards set by the Environment Agency. By maintaining the highest operational standards, the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility continues to play an important role in waste management and energy production for the region.
Starting from mid-August, the facility will welcome a number of temporary structures, including non-permanent office cabins and a marquee, to support the maintenance work. These structures are expected to be on-site for about six weeks, aiding the maintenance teams in their efforts to perform necessary inspections and upgrades.
Household residual waste deliveries will continue as usual during the maintenance period. However, waste deliveries from commercial sources will be temporarily suspended until Monday, 30th September. The facility appreciates the cooperation and understanding of its commercial partners during this necessary downtime. Public tours of the site will resume on Tuesday, 1st October, once operations are back to normal.
In keeping with the facility's commitment to transparency and community engagement, representatives from the Community Liaison Group and Gloucestershire County Council have been informed of the maintenance outage. This proactive communication ensures that the local community is fully aware of the activities taking place and can plan accordingly.
Dan Pearson, General Manager of the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, commented, "Our annual maintenance outage is a vital part of our operations, allowing us to ensure that our facility runs safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally friendly manner. We appreciate the community's support and understanding as we undertake these necessary measures to maintain our high standards of service. We look forward to resuming full operations and welcoming visitors again after this maintenance period."
