Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility announces dates for 2022 planned annual maintenance outage
/The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility has announced that the next planned annual maintenance outage will take place from Saturday 13th August and will last approximately two weeks. During this period, the mechanical process will be shut down and regular day-to-day operations will cease, including visits to the site. The yearly outage allows for the inspection, maintenance and cleaning of equipment at the Facility, ensuring that ongoing operations continue to run efficiently and in accordance with the environmental requirements defined by the Environment Agency.
Cranes arrived on Monday 1st August to place several non-permanent office cabins at the Facility. To allow the Facility time to run down the level of stored waste in the bunker to near minimum, the delivery of commercial waste has been temporarily suspended. This activity also helps the delivery of Gloucestershire’s household residual waste to continue as normal during the outage. Commercial waste deliveries are expected to commence on Monday 5th September and general tours of the Visitor Centre will resume on Monday 12th September.
The Facility is aiming for all external traces of the outage, including cabins and equipment, to be removed within two weeks of Saturday 27th August. This includes the internal areas being returned to their original condition. Representatives from the Community Liaison Group have been informed of the outage to ensure the local community is aware of the activity.
Dan Pearson, General Manager of the Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, commented:
“In terms of operations, the Facility has continued to exceed expectations since it opened in October 2019 and that is a testament to all the hard work and determination of our team. As with all previous years, the activity provides an opportunity to ensure operations are running as efficiently and safely as possible for the upcoming year. If you would like to find out more about the energy from waste process, make sure you book a visit to the Facility today.”
Booking for the general public reopened in May this year, allowing visitors the opportunity to learn more about sustainable waste management. Due to exceptional demand, the Facility is currently booked up until October 2023. Discover more about the Facility now: https://www.ubbgloucestershire.co.uk/
