Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility’s 2022 Community Fund open now
/Applications are now open for the 2022 Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility Community Fund. The Fund is made available annually, providing financial grants to support projects that have environmental, social and/or community benefits to the constituted community groups and parish organisations from Hunts Grove, Hardwicke, Quedgeley, Brookthorpe-with-Whaddon, Haresfield, Harescombe, Standish, Moreton Valence and Whitminster.
The Community Fund began in 2019 and has since awarded grants to various projects across the local parishes. Last year, 11 community groups and parish organisations received funding, including Kingsway Runners, Whitminster Village Hall and Haresfield Parish Council. Following their successful 2020 application, the Quedgeley Short Mat Bowls group received an electro rewinding machine to replace manual equipment, making it easier to set up their games.
Urbaser, the contracted operator of the Facility, provides £25,000 each year to the Fund and undertakes small administrative duties for the application process. The organisation is not involved in setting the criteria for applications or the evaluation and decision-making of entries. Instead, the Fund is managed and run by community representatives from the Community Liaison Group, composed of local Parish Councils, District and County Council members and local residents.
A representative from the Community Fund committee said:
“The pandemic has undoubtedly affected many areas of our community. Since its inception, the Community Fund has awarded grants to almost 30 projects, delivering many benefits to residents in and around Gloucestershire and the environment. If you know of any community groups or parish organisations that would be interested in applying, please do spread the word.”
Applications for the Community Fund will close at the end of July 2022*. Download the Application Form here.
