Project Update Bulletin 6
/The project update bulletin provides the latest progress on the construction of Gloucestershire’s Energy from Waste facility.
In recent weeks, activities have been focussed on the construction of the capping beams and foundation pads for the main boiler house, and prefabricating steel reinforcements for the Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA) treatment hall at the eastern end of the building complex. (The IBA will be processed to recover and recycle metals that have passed though the combustion grate, and the resulting aggregate prepared for recycling into a construction after use).
The main construction equipment currently on site comprises of three crawler cranes and earth moving equipment (excavators, dump trucks, rollers and water bowsers) with concrete pumps brought to site as necessary.
Site operation and Health and Safety continues to be maintained to a high standard. There are now approximately 110 people engaged on site.

The Gloucestershire Energy from Waste facility is part of Gloucestershire Council’s wider waste and resources management strategy to reduce, recycle and recover waste materials across the county and to move away from reliance on end-of-life landfill.
